Sustainability, without the greenwashing

Private car service has an environmental cost. This page sets out what we do to reduce it, what you can do when you book, and what we have not done yet.

Quick Answer

Does Seattle Airport Taxi use electric vehicles?

Yes, in part. Our sedan classes include the fully electric Tesla Model 3 and Model Y and the hybrid Toyota Prius, and our Mini Van class includes the hybrid Toyota Sienna (2021 and newer). Other models run on gasoline. Vehicles are booked by class, so an EV is not guaranteed, but you can ask for one in the booking notes.

What we do now

Practical steps in daily operations

  1. Electric and hybrid models in the fleetFully electric and hybrid models are part of our sedan and mini van classes.
  2. One vehicle per groupMini Vans and Passenger Vans carry families and groups in one vehicle instead of several cars.
  3. Planned, pre-booked tripsRides are scheduled in advance and arrivals are flight-tracked, so drivers are dispatched to real pickups rather than cruising for fares.
  4. Paperless bookingConfirmations, updates and receipts are sent by text and email.

Light rail is lower-impact

For a light packer near a station, Link light rail produces far less pollution per person than any private car.

Sustainability questions

Contact us
Are Seattle Airport Taxi vehicles electric?

Some are. The models we list for our Economy and Standard Sedans include the fully electric Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, and the hybrid Toyota Prius. Toyota Siennas from 2021 onward are hybrids. The Chrysler 300 and Mercedes Metris run on gasoline.

Can I request an electric vehicle?

You can ask in the booking notes and we will try to assign one. Vehicles are booked by class, so a specific model or powertrain is not guaranteed.

Is Seattle Airport Taxi carbon neutral?

No. We do not claim to be carbon neutral, we do not buy carbon offsets, and we do not yet publish a measured emissions figure. This page describes what we do now and what is still to do.

Is a private car better for the environment than light rail?

No. For a single traveler with light luggage going near a station, Link light rail produces far less pollution per passenger than any private car. A private car makes the most sense for families, groups, heavy luggage and trips the train does not reach.

How can I make my ride lower-impact?

Travel together in one vehicle instead of several, choose the smallest vehicle that fits your party and bags, ask for an electric or hybrid model in the booking notes, and book a round trip so your return ride is planned in advance.

Do group bookings reduce emissions?

Usually. Moving a group of five or more in one Passenger Van means one vehicle on the road instead of two or three cars, which typically uses less fuel overall than separate rides.

Book a lower-impact ride

Travel together, choose the right size, and ask for an electric or hybrid model in your booking notes.
